In April 2023, ATMOS Vakuumpressen GmbH presented their latest development. The ATMOS 3D SUB is a sublimation press that can customize three-dimensional and flat workpieces through the interaction of heat and vacuum. In order to illustrate the possible applications of this new vacuum press, Stefan Katzer and Bernd Ludwig sublimated various materials live during the presentation. For example, a powder-coated MDF board was provided with a wood decor and 3D ceramic tiles were individualized with a chameleon. Stainless steel and glass can also be sublimated. A cabinet door made of stainless steel, for example, looked very classy after sublimation with a marble decor, the surface can be mat or high-gloss depending on the powder coating. In the case of glass, smaller panels have been individualized with a wide variety of decors, and two sublimated room doors were shown as visual objects.
The 3D SUB is conveniently controlled with a 10" color touch screen on a separate standing desk. In automatic mode, the carbon infrared emitters, the vacuum pump and the air distribution system are controlled in such a way that the sublimation runs safely in all work steps. Five temperature sensors monitor the temperature in different areas of the vacuum press. Individual programs can be stored for various materials. Interested customers have the opportunity to test the new technology with their own material in the innovation center ATMOS Innovision .
